Tom Evans and Team Receive $1.6 Million NSF Grant
Tom Evans, a professor in the School of Geography and Development and a CCASS advisory team member, along with an interdisciplinary team of researchers, has received a $1.6 million grant from the National Science Foundation’s CNH2: Dynamics of Integrated Socio-Environmental Systems Program. The team’s project will look at the linkages and interactions between urban food security and rural agricultural production, specifically focused on areas in Zambia, South Africa, and Botswana. The researchers will analyze long-term trends in how urban areas are experiencing food insecurity and how those challenges are affected by climate variability and drought. Evans, whose current research focuses on agricultural decision-making, food security, and environmental governance, is the principal investigator on the grant.
