We are honored to welcome Dr. Jay Famiglietti as the next ENVS Colloquium speaker! Jay is Global Futures Professor in the School of Sustainability, College of Global Futures at Arizona State University (ASU).
 
On Monday, January 29, Jay will be presenting Groundwater Depletion as Viewed from Space and Implications for the Western United States in Marley 230 and via Zoom from 3-4pm. All are welcome! This talk is co-sponsored by the Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions (CCASS) and the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC).

Speaker bio: Jay Famiglietti is a hydrologist, a Global Futures Professor at Arizona State University, and Chief Scientist of the Arizona Water Innovation Initiative. He is Executive Director Emeritus of the Global Institute for Water Security at the University of Saskatchewan, where he held the Canada 150 Research Chair in Hydrology and Remote Sensing. Famiglietti is also the former Senior Water Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and he held faculty positions at UC Irvine and UT Austin. His research group uses satellites to track how freshwater availability is changing around the globe. They pioneered the methods to detect groundwater depletion from space. A fellow of the American Geophysical Union, Geological Society of America, and recipient of AGU's Hydrological Sciences Award, he is committed to science communication, and to cross-sectoral advising on water security issues.
