Floods affect more people than any other hazard and are increasing inequality in a changing climate. The Arizona Institute for Resilience (AIR) and the Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions (CCASS) invite you to attend the Flood Justice Symposium on April 20, 2023 from 8:30 am – 4:15 pm. The symposium will examine data driven approaches to address inequity and agency in the flood preparedness, adaptation, and recovery process.
We will focus on four themes:
i. flood governance in the preparedness-recovery continuum
ii. flood justice across borders
iii. data empowered flood justice
iv. community engaged research with speakers including lawyers, scientists, adaptation experts, and leaders of community-based organizations.
The symposium will be hybrid (virtual on zoom and in person), open to the public, and develop a research-action agenda to address flood injustice. Registration is required to attend and the deadline to register is April 10, 2023.
