The ATUR Recharge Opportunities Matrix contains a relatively comprehensive list of potential capture and recharge strategies that either have been or could be used in Arizona. The matrix is linked to Step 6 of the ATUR Decision Support Framework.
For each possible strategy it includes:
- A Strategy Code, organized by landscape type (e.g., urban areas)
- A description of the management strategy
- A description of the key opportunity that is associated with this strategy
- Major constraints, limiting factors and unintended consequences
The purpose of this Matrix is to illustrate a range of possible approaches that can be used to enhance water supply reliability through capture of water that would otherwise have been lost through evaporation, or that is newly generated through urbanization. This matrix is intended as an early-stage screening tool and should not be viewed as an exhaustive list of options or a complete analysis of feasibility.
