Lead CCASS Contact: Courtney Crosson

Project Description: What will our city look like in the year 2050? This book offers a vision for Downtown Tucson as a growing, thriving, livable community in 2050 – that is also carbon and water neutral. The semester-long project was led by one professor and eleven University of Arizona Bachelor of Architecture students, sponsored by GLHN Architects and Engineers, and supported by six community mentors. Case-study research, spatial mapping, quantitative analysis, and design inquiry were used to create the three components of the book: (1) Sustainable “building-block” prototypes to answer five essential questions for the 2050 city posed by community mentors, (2) District energy, transportation water, and living infrastructure for 2050 downtown, and (3) Three sub-district (Congress, TCC, + Mercado) rendered visions.
