On Friday, May 6, 2022, the Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions (CCASS) hosted the “Adaptation All-Stars Lunch,” an opportunity for students and faculty to hear from four world-renowned climate adaptation experts. The lunch featured Robin Leichenko, Professor at Rutgers University; Maria Carmen Lemos, Professor at the University of Michigan; Karen O’Brien, Professor at University of Oslo; and Libby Wentz, Vice Provost/Dean and Professor at Arizona State University who were all on campus to celebrate the retirement of University of Arizona Regents’ Professor Diana Liverman. The lunch event was moderated by CCASS Director Kathy Jacobs and included a broad cross-section of people from across the UArizona campus.

The four climate adaptation experts reflected on issues and opportunities in the field of adaptation and took questions from the audience of more than 40 attendees. The issues discussed ranged from the role of data and mapping in adaptation to climate equity to how to scale up adaptation and make science more actionable. The speakers highlighted different ways we can all have an impact and address multiple other issues, including equity, at the same time. As Robin Leichenko put it, “there are so many opportunities to make the world better as we address climate change.”
